The fly fishing industry is steeped in tradition, but that often leads to a sea of visual sameness.
My primary challenge was to modernize the Academy’s identity without alienating a loyal, established community. Since the client works on a very personal level with his customers, i wanted the design language to encapsulate his somewhat chaotic personality, while still showcasing his expertise. To balance this organic soul with the Academy’s status, I paired natural textures with a personality heavy typographic system, drawing Inspiration from Americana and Gorpcore.
